blue mountains

July 1, 2007

Too many pleasant distractions in South Florida, too little blogging time!

But whenever we return to East Tennessee from any of our wonderings, it is the sight of these blue mountains that fills my heart with joy. Maybe it is their majesty or just their comforting familiarity, but they speak to me each time with a soothing, “Welcome home”.

Mossy Stairs

May 9, 2007

Here’s something for the rust lovers AND the nature lovers.  Liza found this unused pathway during a recent photo clicking adventure around our town. She says she bets no one has even stepped on these mossy stairs in over 25 years.

Interesting to think about the rusty stair rail deteriorating, eventually sinking downward, while the moss is thriving, as if awaiting to encase it. If left undisturbed what would we see in another 25 years?

Where DOES she find these mysterious  photo novelties, bits of another time?

Liza’s Mom, E.C.

April 26, 2007

Our photoclicker, Liza, took this stunning sunset from Jerry’s houseboat. The twilight boat ride was just what we all needed to help calm our frazzled nerves and broken hearts. EC passed away quietly with family present on 4-21-07 at 1:58 am. You can read more about our loss at anitamorrell.wordpress.com

New art soon. Stay tuned. Thanks for your patience.

More like Occasionally Art

April 17, 2007

Instead of dailyart, I should have called this blog… occasionallyart. Most creative processes around our pad have come to a halt. The photographer half of this blog, Liza, has had a family crisis… her mom had a stroke.

I have been blogging mostly for benefit of family and friends here about EC and the turmoil of our past several days.

Bare with us. We will me back in the creative saddle soon, I hope.

Best wishes.

Resourceful Rehabbing

April 12, 2007

Rehabbing can be an honorable undertaking. Recycling instead of razing. Giving a rebirth to structures so that they can once again be useful. However, in all our years of rehabbing adventures, I have never seen anything quite like this!

This is another entry in Liza’s “Abandoned Structures” series.
Warm wishes. anitamorrell.wordpress.com

Everyone has one!

April 7, 2007

Everyone who has ever owned a camera has their own favorite sunset shot. I have many. But this one that Liza took the last time we were in the Keys is certainly one of my favorites.

Earth, Global Warming, or Looking Down?

April 2, 2007

.

Liza says she got these photos because she had been looking down. Shall we call them… “Earth”, or “Global Warming” or maybe just… “Looking Down”?

Although “Global Warming” would be haunting, perhaps we should leave the political commentary to bloggers much more qualified than I. But it would be a pity if more and more of our earth began to look this thirsty. hmmm.

Instead we will celebrate the texture and the rhythm of these amazing photos. Nature’s own abstraction. And we will thank Liza for taking time to “look down”.

urbanart

March 29, 2007

My Liza was wondering around our town today and clicked these two samples to add to her Urban Art series. Amazing how some people can find beauty in the oddest places!

Nice work Liza. She’s out now probably adding to her series called “Bark” (tree trunks), or maybe her collection of man hole covers, or abandoned buildings! Keep on clicking Liza!

Warm wishes until our next blogtime. Thanks for stopping by.
